The Chinese concept font draws inspiration from the origin and evolution of Chinese characters, which have played a significant role in the country's cultural development over the past five thousand years. Wu Xuandong's vision is to symbolize the essence of these characters, bringing their timeless beauty to the forefront.
What sets this design apart is its basis on the dot and line of modern aesthetics. By reimagining the form of Chinese characters, the designer breathes new life into these ancient symbols. Chinese characters originated from graphics, known as pictographs, and have since become a crystallization of ancient Chinese art and wisdom. The Chinese concept font seamlessly blends visual aesthetics with the cultural significance of Chinese characters.
Realized through a digital printing process, the Chinese concept font features intricate details and a captivating visual appeal. The use of gold and silver adds a touch of luxury and elegance to the design, further enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
With regards to specifications, the size of the Chinese concept font can be adjusted according to the desired use, allowing for flexibility and adaptability in various applications.
Wu Xuandong, along with the assistance of Zhu Ying, brought this design to life in Qingdao, China in 2018. The project involved extensive research on Chinese character glyphs, experimental font design, and cultural and creative design.
One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the recognition and association of fonts with the structure of Chinese characters. Additionally, the visual appreciation of dotted lines posed a creative and technical hurdle that was successfully overcome.
The Chinese concept font has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity, earning the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2018. This accolade is a testament to the design's ability to authentically embody experience, resourcefulness, and best practices in art, science, design, and technology. By contributing to quality of life improvements, this design truly makes the world a better place.
